Vijay R. Kannan is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Executive Director of International Programs, and Professor of Operations Management in the Huntsman School of Business. He received his BSc. (Management Sciences) from the London School of Economics & Political Science, MBA (Finance & Decision Sciences) from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, and Ph.D. (Operations Management) from the Broad College of Business, Michigan State University. Prior to joining the faculty at USU in 2000 he was on the faculty of the College of Business, James Madison University, and an instructor at the Broad College of Business, Michigan State University. Professor Kannan has also been a Visiting Professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow where he was a Fulbright Scholar, the National Economics University, Hanoi, Vietnam, the University of Science and Technology, Lille, France, and Kasetsart University, Thailand. Prior to his academic career he worked in program administration for the Greater London Council, and on the technical staff of the Office of the Dean of Academic Computing, Indiana University. He has also served as an examiner for the Shingo Prize.
Professor Kannan teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in operations and supply chain management. He has also developed and led several undergraduate and graduate international study programs that have taken students to countries in Asia and Eastern Europe. He is the author of more than forty articles on topics including supply chain management, cellular manufacturing, and manufacturing strategy in journals including Decision Sciences, the International Journal of Operations and Production Management, the Journal of Supply Chain Management, and the Academy of Management Journal of Learning and Education. Professor Kannan is also the editor of two books on International Business and Strategic Management. He currently serves as the Editor of the Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, and as an Associate Editor for Decision Sciences Journal and the Journal of Supply Chain Management.
